Livingdocs Release January 2026: Media Center and Print Connect

Sarah Robins

Every other month, we at Livingdocs release an updated version of our product wherein we expand its functionality with new features, capabilities and improvements. Now, our January 2026 Release is live and ready for users to explore.

Media Center: Enhanced Dashboards

We’ve noticed that many customers model their Livingdocs navigation around internal organisational structures to reflect their workflows. However, the Media Library screens for images, videos and files are constrained to a single configuration and can appear only once in the navigation.

However, a photo editor triaging large volumes of incoming agency images needs a fundamentally different image dashboard than a journalist working in a regional newsroom.

Livingdocs now allows for multiple kinds of Media Library dashboard configurations so they can align exactly with the needs of the team or role using them. Moreover, multiple dashboards can now be accessed via navigation.

Media Center: Extended Revoke Capabilities

Humans make mistakes, and sometimes an image is published when it shouldn’t be. To limit the impact of copyright infringements, Livingdocs provides a Revoke function. It blocks the image from being delivered through the Public API while notifying downstream systems so their caches can be cleared.

In some cases, legal issues are resolved and the image can be used again. Allowing revocation to be undone restores the image to its normal state; otherwise, it would have to be re-imported as a duplicate and manually replaced everywhere it is used.

As such, we've extended the Revoke functionality, so the person who revokes an image can leave a comment explaining why it was revoked. Now, when a user clicks on "Unrevoke", the image reverts to normal and delivery is continued.

Print Connect: Export Flow

Livingdocs provides a flexible, user-friendly workflow for managing both the web and print versions of the same article. When a print article is transferred from Livingdocs to a dedicated print system, this process is called an export.

For users, it should be clear what steps are required to ensure that the print version of an article is successfully exported to the print system.

This is why we have introduced Export Mode in Publish Control. If enabled, the publishing flow for print articles being transferred into the print system is simplified even further. Clicking on "Export Now" allows the current print version of the article to be handed over effortlessly to the print system.

Breaking Changes & Upcoming Deprecations

In order to keep Livingdocs as streamlined and user-friendly as possible, we periodically remove features when we have found better solutions to the problems they solve. We will always give you ample notice so that you have plenty of time to make adaptations to your setup.

In the January Release, there are some technical breaking changes you need to be aware of as a technician working with Livingdocs. No user-facing features are affected. Please read the Technical Release Notes for a comprehensive list of changes that may affect your newsroom.

To get more in-depth, technical information about this release, please refer to our documentation site. There, you can also stream the recordings and peruse the slide presentations of our Feature Webinar and Developer Webinar.

We look forward to showing you what’s in store for our next release!
